Professional Indemnity Insurance
Professional indemnity insurance is a statutory requirement for all barristers in the Australian Capital Territory pursuant to section 312 of the Legal Profession Act 2006 (ACT). For the 2023-24 practising year, the minimum level of PII insurance that an ACT barrister must take out is $1.5 million.
Please note that it remains the responsibility of the individual barrister to satisfy themselves as to the content of the policies on offer, the terms and conditions, and the premium applicable to them.
