Bar Subcommittees
The work of the Committees is incredibly important to the Bar Council and the Bar Association. Committees bring together the expertise, experience and perspectives of members to support the work of the Bar Council and ensure that the views of the profession are effectively represented.
Committees are regularly called upon to consider issues affecting the legal profession and the administration of justice, including proposals for legislative reform, court-related matters and other issues of significance to the profession. Their members contribute both specialist legal expertise and a deep appreciation of the practical operation of the justice system, providing informed and considered perspectives to assist the Bar Council.
The Bar Council established a two-year term for all Committees, together with an annual review process each September. This provides a consistent framework for committee membership while allowing the Bar Council to regularly consider the composition, effectiveness and ongoing needs of each Committee.
